Met 004 at Luling, Caldwell Co. TX? Lived on (what became) Dodge Road, NW of Brady, TX, near what is Brady Lake. Lived under the big hill, now known as Whitehead Hill, across from the present-day horseracing track, a few tens of yards off the road, in a 2 or 3 room house. [No house is visible nowadays from the road.] Family tradition says middle name was David, tombstone lists "D." Died young, before last child (103) was born. Had a calling to preach (Baptist). The first time he went out to preach it was a rainy morning. He caught pneumonia and died.
Footnote: [1] The 1880 Census (Enumeration District 29, sheet 11, line 47) shows he lived in Luling, Tx. He was white, age 28, born in Alabama. Father and mother both born in NC. He was a farmer, literate, no street address.
(City of Brady maintains Live Oak Cemetary, but has no interrment records before 1910.)
